Datuk Tan Say Jim -Master Entrepreneur Of The Year 2015

Datuk Tan, who also won the Master Entrepreneur category award, will go on to represent Malaysia and join more than 60 other country winners to compete for the coveted EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year (WEOY) award at the annual WEOY event in Monte Carlo, Monaco in June 2016.

A tireless humanitarian, philanthropist and all-round ‘ideas guy’, Datuk Tan has touched millions of lives around the world by seamlessly blending disparate technologies to bring to life many useful solutions to everyday problems. From creating electronic passports and electronic identification 20 years ago to investing in agriculture and introducing a flat pack emergency home built-in-a-day, he has been steadily changing the way people think and do things.

YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry said, “Entrepreneurs play a vital role in driving the country towards achieving our vision of becoming a developed nation by 2020. We need bolder and more innovative entrepreneurs to contribute in charting our country’s growth, especially against the backdrop of global economic uncertainty. Malaysian entrepreneurs must also take advantage of our regional economic integration initiatives such as the ASEAN Economic Community to expand their footprint and actively participate on the regional and global stage.”

Dato’ Abdul Rauf Rashid, Country Managing Partner, EY Malaysia added, “All the Top Nominees in this year’s programme are winners in their own right. Their vision, innovation, exceptional leadership and relentless drive have led to the creation of dynamic and successful companies. With their success, they have impacted our lives, by creating products and services that we depend on, generating employment and wealth, fueling economic growth and increasing the competitiveness of the nation. They are inspiring role models who have continuously challenged themselves and others by asking better questions that demand better answers.”

Philip Rao, Partner and EOY Malaysia Programme Director said, “Datuk Tan is a truly inspiring entrepreneur who consistently pushes the envelope. To him, seeking solutions to problems that impact people and society is important, and this is where innovation and creativity come to the fore. As a businessman, he demonstrates the tenacity and sense of purpose of being responsible not only to shareholders, employees and customers, but to society at large. Through his entrepreneurial efforts, Datuk Tan has certainly helped to build a better working world. We have no doubt that he will do us proud in Monte Carlo next year.”
