ICSL Technologies (M) Sdn. Bhd. (CSL) is a manufacturer of precast Lightweight Reinforced Concrete (LRC) for Sustainability Architectural Green product and wall solution product. It is a new generation of lightweight concrete product made from environmental friendly material for building industry today.

LRC product is the first SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURAL GREEN PRODUCT in Malaysia.In year 2009, LRC product is endorsed by the “Green Label” from Singapore Environment Council (SEC) for Green Labeling Scheme (SGLS) certification as environment-friendly products that also recognized by international Global Eco-Labeling Network (GEN), CIDB (IBS) & SIRIM (Product Certification).

THE ROLE OF BUILDING CONSTRUCTIONMATERIALS ON GLOBAL WARMING LESSONS FOR ARCHITECTS

History of construction and other structures since prehistory, including bridges, amphitheatres, dams, roads and canals. Building materials in present use have a long history and some of the structures built thousands of years ago are regarded as remarkable. The history of construction overlaps that of structural engineering and many other fields. To understand why things were constructed the way they were in prehistory, we also need to rely on archaeology to record the form of the parts that survive and the tools used, and other branches of history and architecture to investigate how the builders lived and recorded their accomplishments.

Although architecure development are quite remarkable and those outstanding examples are: Beauvais Cathedral, Chartres Cathedral, King’s College Chapel and Notre Dame, Paris. But buildings are the largest energy consumers and greenhouse gases emitters, both in the developed and developing countries. Urgent changes are therefore required relating to energy saving, emissions control, production and application of materials. Immediate suggestion related to use of renewable resources, and to recycling and reuse of building materials is necessary. This paper describes how much a typical building is contributing to global warming by releasing the carbon dioxide emission. And how the architects and building designers can decrease the amount of carbon footprint emitted from the building materials. As a case study a 3-story building made of commonly used materials; concrete, brick, stone and glass has been selected. Total quantity of carbon emission is estimated and finally suggestions are given to reduce carbon dioxide emission.
