Sunteek Handicapped Welfare Home

KAGC College, Ecoclub organized a visit to Suntek Handicapped Welfare Home on the 12th January 2017, at Jalan Kuching, Taman City, KL. The charity visit which took place from 11am to 1pm was done for the purpose of donating basic necessities for the handicapped children. Ecoclub partnered with Fleming, a global B2B event organizer which for the past 13 years has been involved with numerous portfolio of conferences, trainings, exhibitions, to name a few. Fleming has rendered thier services to more than 50000 thousand companies worldwide. Fleming had gathered donations for the Suntek Welfare Home which had been passed to Ecoclub for handling and organizing.

Suntek Welfare Home which was established on September 16 2014, is a voluntary and non-profit organization whereby they depend solely on donations from the public and organizations all over for funding. Thier main focus of care is to accomodate children who are mentally and physically challenged with Syndrome Down, Spastic, Cerebral Palsy, etc. Suntek gives special training for these children based on their ability to grasp knowledge based on thier skills and talents in order for them to be able to survive in the future.

The Ecoclub team was warmly welcomed by Mr.Siow, the chairman of the home. Even the residents of the home rushed to greet them as they arrived to the home. Mr.Siow gave the team a brief introduction about Suntek and the status of the children and the issues. There were 16 handicapped children/adults and 4 voluntary workers to help with affairs at the home. When we arrived, the residents were just doing their usual routines such as watching TV, playing in the front yard and the like. According to Mr.Siow, most of the residents were born mentally and phycially challenged and some became sick whenthey were toddlers. Many of the cases happened when the children had high fever when they were babies and it took a devastating toll on them.

Suntek Handicapped Welfare Home has a high expenditure due to the fact that they are totally non-profit organization and depends heavily on public donations. The families of the residents are not charged as Suntek is well aware of their contraints. Throught donations, they built the home and have been maintaining the home ever since successfully. Ecoclub had given all the donations gathered by Fleming to Suntek Handicapped Welfare Home for thier fundings so that the less fortunate residents of Suntek have a better life. Ecoclub will also look fo fundings from other corporations in order to support Suntek Handicapped Welfare Home.
